Every system we install is chosen partly because it barely needs you. No sanding, no staining, no repainting, just the occasional rinse. Here's the whole routine, by material.
The short version: a bucket of mild soapy water, a soft cloth or sponge, and a rinse a couple of times a year is all any of our systems asks for. What follows is the detail if you want it.
By material
Three systems, one easy habit.
Powder-coated aluminum
An occasional rinse is all it takes. No sanding, staining, or repainting. For anything stubborn, wash with mild soap and water and a soft cloth, then rinse clean.
The powder-coat finish is baked on and UV-stable, so the colour you picked stays the colour you see.
Glass panels
Rain does much of the work on exterior panels. A squeegee with glass cleaner handles the rest a few times a year, top and bottom edges included.
Tempered safety glass throughout, so it stays clear and strong for years with almost no effort.
Stainless cable
Very little. 316 marine-grade stainless shrugs off our climate; an occasional rinse and wipe-down keeps it bright. No staining, no painting, no rust spots.
If a cable ever loses a little tension over the years, re-tensioning is a simple, minutes-long adjustment.
Do
- Rinse with clean water a couple of times a year
- Use mild soap and water with a soft cloth or sponge
- Squeegee glass with standard glass cleaner
- Re-tension a cable if it ever loosens over the years
Skip
- Skip abrasive pads, steel wool, or scouring powders
- Avoid harsh solvents and acidic cleaners on the finish
- No pressure-washing directly at hardware or fittings
- Don't sand, stain, or repaint; it's not that kind of railing
